Bright House Networks Awards Laptop Scholarships
to Winners of the Bright Futures Program

Seniors Display Strong Commitment to Serving Community

Birmingham, Ala. - April 30, 2009 – Bright House Networks recently announced the winners of their “Bright Futures Student Laptop Scholarship” Program. The program, launched in January of this year, is designed to provide high school seniors that are matriculation to college with a laptop as a reward for their hard work and commitment to leadership and community. Bright Futures also rewards and recognizes educators who teach K-12 curriculum at schools located within the Bright House Networks service area through our Teacher Grant Program.

Students were asked to submit an application and develop an essay that describes the importance of leadership both in school and in the community in which they live. The student’s essay also gave them an opportunity to share individual leadership skills and community involvement. Students were then evaluated on the content of their submission. Student winners will be recognized and laptops presented at various programs throughout the Bright House Networks service areas.

“We are excited to provide these students with the laptop for college” states Karen Broach, President Bright House Networks, Birmingham Division. “We are aware of the financial responsibilities associated with entering college. Our goal was to make a positive contribution to the educational experience of these student leaders. We are proud to be able to make these scholarships available to these students”.
